Like Glimpses of Paradise

Like glimpses of paradise
The dawn of Eden rose.
Queenly o'er the sapphire skies
Blushing sweetly she goes
Softly on and on --
Till the gates of heaven close
And she is gone.

Like valleys of paradise
As never pencil drew,
The September landscape lies
Tinted with every hue
Spreading joys untold --
Dipt in the bewitching brew
Of Autumn's gold.

Like glimpses of paradise
The flaming sunset's glow.
When beautiful daylight dies
And shadows creep below
Robed in purple mist --
Dreamy in the wonder glow
By night-winds kist.
